CEU’s-Alternate Ways to Meet Your Annual Requirement

Some of our members have difficulty meeting their required 16 CEU each year. Time and travel are becoming more expensive, and attending meetings that provide educational material to acquire your CEU is becoming more difficult. As an alternative, a portion of your continuing education could come from webinars or educational videos.

The website https://extension.org/ is an excellent starting place to look for videos that can be approved by ARPAS for this purpose. Typically, one CEU is given for each one contact hour of viewing or participation in a webinar or viewing of a video specific to your educational needs.

As an example, one possible source for videos is DAIReXNET. DAIReXNET is a national, extension-driven web resource designed to meet the educational and decision-making needs of dairy producers, allied industry partners, extension educators, and consumers. Your peers are the featured presenters of these high-quality educational programs.

You can find resource areas listed on https://extension.org/ for beef, horses, sheep, goats, poultry, and other areas of interest for you as a professional animal scientist. If you find you need a few more CEU at the end of the year, make use of these great resources to fill the gap.

To be given credit for viewing a video, you must contact ARPAS. Check online at the ARPAS website to see whether the program is in our approved list. If the video or webinar is not shown on our list of approved programs, send an email to ARPAS (www.arpas.org). Give the name of the program and the time spent, and we will credit your CEU account.
