New ACAS Members

ACAS President Michel Etchebarne, PhD, PAS, Dipl ACAN

Since January 2008, ARPAS has certified three new members with diplomate status in the American College of Animal Sciences. Through rigorous testing or a review of their outstanding professional credentials by a committee of their peers, these members have attained the highest certification available through ARPAS. They join over 200 board-certified members of ARPAS.

The new diplomates are Marit Arana, Randy Shaver, and Dana Tomlinson. We congratulate them on this career achievement.

The primary objectives of the American College of Animal Sciences are to advance the level of professionalism in the fields of animal nutrition, animal physiology, animal genetics, animal food science, and applied animal behavior science and to increase the competence of those practicing in these fields by

  • Establishing requirements for postgraduate education and experience for board certification of expertise in animal nutrition, animal physiology, animal genetics, animal food science, and applied animal behavior science.

  • Examining and certifying specialists in these animal science disciplines.

  • Stimulating animal scientists to pursue a program of continuing education for professional advancement throughout their careers.

  • Promoting research relating to the needs of animals to maintain health and well-being, enhance productivity through nutritional, physiological, genetic, and behavioral evaluation and experimentation and enhance composition and quality of products.

  • Enhancing the dissemination of knowledge in these disciplines of animal science.

We welcome all ARPAS members who meet the qualifications for board certification to contact any ACAS officer or director, Executive-Vice President Kenneth Cummings, or Executive Assistant Susie Rahn at ARPAS headquarters for an application or information.
