Colorado–Wyoming–Nebraska Chapter Report

Matt Luebbe, PhD, PAS

Colorado–Wyoming–Nebraska ARPAS Chapter officer names and positions:
President: Matt Luebbe, University of Nebraska
President Elect: Kelley Neuhold, ADM/Loomix
Treasurer: Bob Brown, Brown Ruminant Consulting
University Representative: Scott Lake, University of Wyoming
Industry Representative: Cody Nichols, Huvepharma Inc.

The tristate ARPAS chapter changed the name of the “Colorado Nutrition Roundtable” to the “High Plains Nutrition and Management Roundtable.” It was decided by the officers and advisory committee to change the name in order to host the event in each of the states represented. The High Plains Nutrition and Management Roundtable (HPNR) will rotate annually among the three states to increase participation and ARPAS membership. To further increase ARPAS membership, the chapter offered to pay for the exam during the HPNR meeting and the first year of membership for those interested in joining.

Our annual roundtable consists of presenters that submit proceedings papers, which are bound and available for attendees. Attendees can earn ARPAS CEUs for attending the event. Each year the tristate ARPAS chapter hosts a graduate-student poster competition in conjunction with the roundtable. The graduate students are required to submit an abstract prior to the meeting, and the posters are evaluated by academic faculty and industry representatives. During the evaluation, the poster presenter is questioned about the research and the poster is evaluated by the panel. Monetary prizes are presented to the top three poster winners. A monetary honorarium is also provided to all students who participate in the competition.
