ARPAS Foundation Report

Daryl Kleinschmit, PhD, PAS, Dpl. ACAS

The ARPAS Foundation balance at the end of the first quarter was $279,012.29 but unfortunately the account lost $14,624.84 in the first quarter due to the market drop.  In spite of this drop, the ARPAS Foundation is still in a strong financial standing.

ARPAS Foundation Report

Daryl Kleinschmit, PhD, PAS, Dpl. ACAS

The ARPAS Foundation is in a great financial state this year. No new amendments have been passed over the past year (since January 2021).

In December 2021, funds were approved for support of the PNW Chapter’s 2022 scholarship program.

Last, just a reminder that an application form for requesting funding is available on the ARPAS website along with a paper version of a donation form that can be used to make donations to the foundation. Individuals can also submit donations online.

ARPAS Foundation Report

N. Andy Cole, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS

The financial status of the ARPAS Foundation is excellent. This is due, in large part, to the annual donations from our outgoing executive vice president, Kenneth Cummings. Outlays this past year were less than previous non-COVID years, primarily because the number of graduate students taking the ARPAS exams was less than a normal year.

ARPAS Foundation Report

N. Andy Cole, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAS

The ARPAS Foundation is in good financial status with a balance of $271,248.91 as of December 31, 2020. Outlays this past year were less than in previous years because of the COVID virus. The number of graduate student ARPAS exams paid for by the Foundation was significantly less than in 2019 ($475 vs. $1,900). Thanks again go to Executive VP Kenneth Cummings for contributing a significant portion of his stipend to the Foundation.

The ARPAS Foundation is in excellent financial condition with a balance of $209,601.05 as of March 31, 2020. This is in large part to the generosity of the ARPAS Executive Vice President Kenneth Cummings who contributes a portion of his salary each year to the foundation.

In CY2019, the foundation made almost $6,000 in contributions to educational efforts of our members, including the following:

  1. $1,900 to pay the exam fees of graduate students,
  2. $2,835 to fund page charges for ARPAS symposium papers published in Applied Animal Science, and
  3. $250 to support the annual meeting of the Midwest Chapter.

ARPAS Foundation Report – April 2019

Jeffrey M. DeFrain, PhD, PAS, Dipl. ACAN, Chairperson

The ARPAS Foundation’s assets remain in great standings, hovering at the $200,000 mark. The overall goal of the foundation is to grow assets while making 4 to 5% of the funds available for organizational growth and support of educational opportunities for members.

Some excellent examples that have been deployed by ARPAS chapters include supporting graduate student poster competitions, the development of a professional development conference for entrepreneurs, and supporting social gatherings to mix members and nonmembers. All of these activities are great ways to expose ARPAS to the industry and grow membership as well as support existing members in their current positions.

We encourage all chapters to reach out the ARPAS Foundation as you strategize on new-member growth and future educational opportunities or activities for existing members. These types of efforts are greatly appreciated and needed by all chapters to maintain our success into the future.

Foundation Report

Jack Garrett

The ARPAS Foundation’s assets now exceed $200,000. The ARPAS Foundation was established to recognize and fund worthy educational efforts of ARPAS and its members, or to promote the activities of ARPAS. Each year we receive multiple requests for educational funding projects, such as support for symposiums and speakers. This year the foundation will be supporting the dissemination of the information that will be presented at this year’s educational symposium “Sustainable Dairy Production” at the ADAS annual meeting by helping with the publication of the written articles in our journal.
