President’s Letter

Paul Beck, PhD, PAS, Dpl. ACAS

This last year has been a hardship on all of us, and ARPAS has also been affected. The online format to our professional meetings last year was great for maintaining involvement but did not supply the fellowship and interaction we thrive on to keep our programs centered.

The lack of in-person meetings has hampered our recruiting efforts, which usually occur at regional and national meetings of ASAS and ADSA among others. We are fortunate that Brittany Morstatter, Steve Schmidt, and our Examining Board had already been working on online testing, and we were able to administer ARPAS exams virtually.

Executive Vice President’s Report

Al Kertz, PhD, PAS, Dpl. ACAS

ARPAS is about creating a culture of integrity in our industry by virtue of our commitment to a code of ethics and professional accreditation. Membership is the key element because it contributes to our critical mass in the industry. Thus, membership has to be a key objective in a multifaceted approach.

2022 ARPAS Sponsorship

Annual Registry Sponsorship

ARPAS is increasingly being recognized as the standard of excellence for reliable information and high ethical standards for those working with animal agriculture.

Support ARPAS and our mission of certification and licensing of professional animal scientists to serve and protect the public and modern agriculture. ARPAS sponsorship identifies corporations and organizations that are committed to high professional and ethical standards through financial support of ARPAS.

The annual $1,000 sponsorship contribution to ARPAS is used to support the Applied Animal Science (AAS) journal, primarily funding invited reviews, which are often the most read and widely used articles by ARPAS members, and for promoting other professional and educational pursuits of ARPAS.

ARPAS Foundation Report

Daryl Kleinschmit, PhD, PAS, Dpl. ACAS

The ARPAS Foundation is in a great financial state this year. No new amendments have been passed over the past year (since January 2021).

In December 2021, funds were approved for support of the PNW Chapter’s 2022 scholarship program.

Last, just a reminder that an application form for requesting funding is available on the ARPAS website along with a paper version of a donation form that can be used to make donations to the foundation. Individuals can also submit donations online.
