Executive VP Report

Kenneth R. Cummings, Dipl. ACAN

Relative to maturity, ARPAS is in middle-age but still in good health.  We continuing to add new members and address new ways to add value for our member and our profession.  Ten years ago, our testing process used only paper exams.  Our work consisted of evaluating educational programs for CEU credit, working on a strategic plan and assisting the National Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) to train ARPAS members for on-farm feed management evaluation.  ARPAS had five active Chapters but the bulk of our ARPAS members had no regional chapter affiliation and could not participate ARPAS associated activities.

Dues and CEUs Reminder for 2016

Kenneth Cummings, PAS, Dipl. ACAN, Exec. VP, ARPAS

It’s that time of year again, and I would be remiss in my role with ARPAS if I did not remind you to pay your dues and report your CEUs. Do not bother to read further if you have done both. Thank you for continuing monetary support of national ARPAS and your local chapter as well.

Reporting Continuing Education Units (CEU)

Kenneth Cummings

Reporting Continuing Education Units (CEU) is simple through the ARPAS website. Just log onto the site at www.arpas.org and click on “Submit CEUs.” Not only is your CEU record instantly updated when you enter your meetings online, but the system also keeps a convenient submission history in case you wish to check your past entries. Don’t see a meeting you want to report on the approved list? No problem! You can submit any meeting to be approved and posted on the list before you enter it online. Remember, 16 CEU are required each year to maintain your registration, and up to 16 CEU can be carried over to the following year.

Please Renew Your ARPAS Membership for 2015

We are one-third of the way into 2015, and dues for this year are past due for 171 members who have not renewed. Your membership is important to us and to you as a professional animal scientist and is not to be taken lightly. Lapsed members from a previous year can reinstate their membership by filling out a lapsed member form (available on our website www.arpas.org) and paying a reinstatement fee of $20 plus dues and CEU for the current year.
If you have retired and want to continue as an active member, you can establish an emeritus membership. It is available for ARPAS members who have retired and who are no longer practicing professional activities in animal science. Continuing education units are not required for emeritus members. The annual membership fee for emeritus members is $47.50 per year.
Life emeritus members may also elect to pay a one-time fee of only $285. You may renew your emeritus membership online today or download the printable form at
