ARPAS Foundation Report

Bill Braman, PhD, PAS, Chairperson

The ARPAS Foundation committee seeks your help.

The ARPAS Foundation was initiated in 2008 and the ARPAS bylaws were ratified by the membership in 2010. The purpose of the ARPAS Foundation includes education and development to ARPAS members to increase the value to ARPAS membership.

In 2013 the ARPAS Foundation initiated a program to support membership growth through graduate student support. The Foundation Committee presented "Why you should be a member of ARPAS" to the Dairy Quiz Bowl contestants and ADSA Graduate Student Division during the 2013 Joint Annual Meeting of the Societies. The ARPAS Foundation supported the ARPAS exam fee for these students resulting in offering 70 students ARPAS exams and increasing membership. The Committee will broaden this activity in 2014 to include ASAS and PSA graduate students.

As part of the education commitment of the ARPAS Foundation, the Foundation committee is organizing a webinar focused on educating the ARPAS membership on the effect of the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) on member’s companies, customers, and clients. FDA has expressed concerns about products manufactured by a facility that may not contain essential nutrients or have too much of a nutrient. These potential FSMA regulations may change the way ARPAS members formulate feeding programs and provide services to their clients and employers.

ARPAS Foundation contributions now exceed $100,000. Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible and will contribute towards the long term success of ARPAS by increasing the value of membership. Major regulatory changes are impacting and changing the way we provide technical services to our companies and clients. Your contribution to the Foundation will help assure that ARPAS can provide members the most current information needed to navigate this changing regulatory environment. Please send your contribution made out to the ARPAS Foundation to:
