Call for nominations for ARPAS Executive Vice President
The ARPAS Executive Committee is searching for candidates to fill the role of executive vice president. This position will begin in the summer of 2021. This is a part-time administrative oversight and leadership position. Daily administrative support is provided by FASS.
The person filling this position should be a current member of ARPAS or be educationally qualified to become a certified professional animal scientist through our examination process.
This individual should have excellent oral and written communication skills, be willing to travel, have experience in arranging and conducting meetings, and demonstrate an ability to manage the activities of an all-volunteer organization. The individual will oversee staff assigned by FASS and report to the president and Executive Committee, elected annually by the membership of ARPAS.
Anybody who is interested should contact a member of the Executive Committee for a detailed job description. A CV will be requested from each candidate and sent to Brittany Morstatter. Candidates should be submitted by April 15, 2021.
Call for Nominations for 2021 Distinguished Professional Animal Scientist Award
The ARPAS Distinguished Professional Animal Scientist award is bestowed annually on one or more emeritus members of ARPAS who have made significant contributions to the animal sciences during their active career and also served in a leadership position with ARPAS.
Nominations may be made by any member of ARPAS. Final selection will be made by the ARPAS executive committee with confirmation from the ARPAS governing council. The number of awards each year will not exceed 0.2% of the total ARPAS membership. Please contact any member of the ARPAS Governing Council or send your nomination by email to Brittany Morstatter.
Recipients of this award will be recognized with an article in the newsletter and the Applied Animal Science journal and given a tribute at our annual meeting. A suitable award will be presented to them on this occasion. They will also be granted lifetime membership in ARPAS with emeritus privileges.
We have now presented 30 of our former leaders of ARPAS with this award since its inception in 2008.
